About Barker Hunter Family Tree
Welcome to my ever growing family tree

The main family lines are the OLDALES an old Sheffield family with strong farming ties to the Sheaf Valley in the city. Joseph Oldale being the famous 'Squire of Beauchief'

BARKER, HUNTER and BARTON families worked mainly in the cutlery trade

The PARTRIDGE line comes from the villages of Thurning and Briston in Norfolk, John Hardy Partridge moved to Sheffield with his family. A likely result of the massive expansion of the steel industry which would have attracted people from far and wide.

The FERRIS and RICKS/RIX families as I recently discovered are again a farm working family from Wiltshire, Frank Ferris making the journey north as did his brother Arthur. Some venturing to America and Australia.

I recently made contact with two HUNTER relatives who have helped me tremendously. The research has even given me relatives in the STEAD/E family that lived in the same parish as me that I had no idea about, Bradfield.

Using Social Media and cross referencing my tree I have made contact with 2nd/3rd cousins still in Sheffield and have had photos and help from them.

I have a new partner in crime who has helped me tremendously, our lines cross through many families in and around Sheffield.

If you stumble on this site and have some information please don't hesitate to get in touch

Thank you all that are helping me along the way.
