I started researching "My Family Tree" a few years ago but didnt get into too much depth with it.  In Feb 2010 I started searching more thoroughly with the help of some family members and have  found some amazing discoveries and stories about my ancesters. Since I started researching my family, Martin has taken a keen interest in finding who his  ancesters were as well so with a lot of late nights and lots of digging around, him ringing his  uncle in England to scratch the surfaces of his past, we have stumbled upon some pretty amazing  stuff. I have connected his branches to my branches through our marriage. I have just recently taking on the task of helping Martin search for his long lost ancestors and a  few falls off the chair later have traced his great grandfathers back to Adam & Eve. Adam died at  age 930 (wonder what he looked like!!!...lol)Adams father was GOD of the world.

I would like to thank all the people that have gathered up information for my family  tree over the years and hope this tree can keep "growing" in the years to come.  It is something that will always be treasured and kept in a safe place for my  children and future generations.  Family means the world to me and something that  cannot be replaced and is memories that will always be cherished.

A special thank you to KATE WINGROVE, from Sydney whom I have just found to be connected to the  KANES and a relation to Martin. Kate has been giving me lots of info that we did not know and lots  of advice on where to look for information to our research. Youre probably going to regret this  Kate, trying to get all this info into one tiny wee brain...lol We appreciate the help Kate..ty xx

I have been informed that we have a few famous people in my family tree...some including :

MICHAEL ROACH (A former Australian Rules Football Player who played for Richmond Football Club)  whom I have been a loyal supporter since my teens. Story of Michael can be seen in the story  section of this site.

LAUREN JACKSON (A current Australian professional Basketball Player). Story of Lauren can be seen  in the story section of this site.

GERMAINE GREER (An Australian-born writer, academic, journalist and scholar of early modern  English literature, widely regarded as one of the most significant feminist voices of the later  20th century. Story of Germaine can be seen in the story section of this site.

SIR GRAEME MURPHY (Belonged to the Australian Ballet Co.) A story of Graeme can be seen in the  story section of this site.

DAVID BOON (Australian Cricketer). A story of David can be seen in the story section of this site.

On doing our family history research I have discovered many important connections. They dont  necessarily mean that they are relations as they might only be connected through marriages. It is  very interesting though to know who you are connected to.

MARTINS CONNECTIONS:

ARTHUR GUINNESS ~ who was the founder of the Guinness Brewery Business in Ireland. Martins 6X Great Grandmother (Frances Crossley)s great granddaughters husbands fathers uncle was  Arthur Guinness.

JANE SEYMOUR ~ 3rd wife of Henry VIII.
 Martins 12X Great Grandparents (John Seymour 1476-1536) and (Margery Wentworth 1474-1550) daughter  was Jane Seymour 1509-1537.

In August 2010, Martin and I visited England and Ireland for a months holiday. The main purpose of our visit was to celebrate Martins Mum & Dads 50th Wedding Anniversary and  also research some of our family history (on both sides) in Yorkshire and Dublin. We had a fantastic time, a holiday that I will never forget. We were fortunate enough to have had an invitation from Lisnavagh House in County Carlow,  from the Bunburys to visit the estate, which remains in their family.  As Martins 5x great grandfather Nathaniel Kane was Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1734  (and his brother Joseph Kane in 1725) we were extremely lucky to have had an email  from "Mansion House" (Home of the Lord Mayor) inviting us to visit whilst we were in Dublin. We took a 4 night/5 day trip to Yorkshire, Home of Wentworth Castle, which my ancestors  built and lived in.
 Stainborough Castle later called Wentworth Castle was built and was home to many of the Wentworths. My 4x great grandparents were Nathaniel Lucas and Olivia Gascoigne - convicts who were transported to Australia.  Olivias mother was Sarah Vernon Wentworth who was related to the famous Wentworths  of Wentworth Castle and Wentworth Woodhouse.
 There are 2 missing links within our familys and as yet not been able to "nut" it together but am working on this with patience.
