About The Last of the Gudgeons
Please sign in to see more.
I am the last male Gudgeon of a line going back (so far) to the late 17thC in Northamptonshire. My maternal line (Mitchell/Davis) is from Hampshire. Other lines are from Rutland (Sellars and Norris) and South London (Day). On my wife's side, she has ancestors from Ireland (Fitzsimmons and Dukelow), Suffolk (Carr and Cooper), Devon and East London (Carrington).

Grateful thanks are extended to the many relatives and others who have contributed to this site, including the late Ethel O'Donnell (nee Sellars), the late Phyllis Mitchell and her sister Helen Mitchell (Mitchell, Henstredge and Davis in Hampshire), my sister-in-law Pat Fitzsimmons, the late Norah Fife (nee Carrington), the late Lily Stevens (nee Day), the late Eileen Bowman (nee Gooding), the late Gwen Gooding, the late Robert Carr and his sister Penny Howes (nee Carr), my cousin Carol Batcup (nee Burgess), Derek Hanney, Adrian Hanwell, Maurice Rippin (Sellars and other Rutland connections), Helen Jones (nee Winter) and the family in Australia, Rita Waterhouse (Davis/Mitchell connections), Alan Smith of the Martlesham Heath Aviation Society for information on Reginald Carr, Jennie Fooks, Rhona Collinson, Alan Fraser (Cooper and other Suffolk connections), Alan Webb, Brian Willmott, Alison Shipman (nee Charlton - Sellars connection), and in 2011, cousin Mark Sellars and his Canadian family.

In 2012, to Anne Rose for her contributions to the Seifert and associated families, and the Jacobs Family tree on Ancestry.

Also to Christopher Parker for Parker, Payling, Carr, Spaul and other associated families. And in 2012 to Debbie Hallett for her Hallett/Gudgeon/Dunn/Lamden family tree via Ancestry for additions to the line of William Thomas Gudgeon.

In 2013, to my new-found 4th cousin, Janet Conroy in Canada, for opening up a previously unknown Gudgeon line. The website of Nigel Batty-Smith with contributions from the late Russell Molyneux Johnson, are gratefully acknowledged for much of the Carrington family lineage from Devon.

In 2019, re-contact, via Ancestry DNA, with my Australian cousin Vicki Mysko, nee Jones, daughter of Helen, who has provided lots of information and photos. Subsequently. her mother Helen, made contact again, and has supplied further information and photos.

The generosity of family historians knows no bounds, and this site would not be as detailed without their kind assistance.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list.
