About MacDonald / Bartley Family Tree
MacDonald / Bartley Family Tree
This website contains the families of Angus MacDonald b 1758 in Scotland, John Bartley b 1816 in Ireland and their descendants.
MacDonald (McDonald) Family
Angus MacDonald’s grandson, Angus MacDonald b 1818 immigrated to the United States in 1840 and settled in Ohio. His sister Margaret b 1827 also immigrated to the United States in1852 and settled in Indiana. Another brother David MacDonald b 1819 and other siblings remained in Scotland.
David MacDonald’s youngest son, Henry Cooper MacDonald b 1860 immigrated to Canada in 1887 (NWT later to be part of Saskatchewan) along with his spouse Isabella Mackenzie and their only child at the time Mary McKenzie MacDonald (Molly). They had three (3) other children who were born in Canada, Berta, Bella and Kate.
Their mother Isabella died in 1892 from complications from childbirth. Henry died by drowning in 1903 while attempting to cross the Assiniboine River by horse and buggy, orphaning the four (4) children who were subsequently raised by neighbours.
NOTE: The MacDonald families in the United States utilized the surnames ‘MacDonald’ and ‘McDonald’ and some interchanged the names. The MacDonald families in Canada remained ‘MacDonald’.
Bartley Family
The ‘Bartley’ family info goes back to John Bartley b 1816 in Ireland. He married Susan Weatherhead in Ireland and immigrated to Canada prior to the birth of their son, William b 1851 in the Kingston, Ontario area. John, Susan and possibly more children appear in the records of the 1871 Census for Wallace Township, Ontario.
The ‘Bartley’ tree is still a work in progress.

NOTE:
-	An easier way to find your particular ancestors is to go to 'view', on the top bar, enter the youngest person in your family in the 'reports for' (filed alphabetically by first name) then click 'ancestor report' or enter the oldest known person and then click ‘descendants’, A printable report is prepared for your family. It does not include siblings. ‘Kin’ under the ‘view’ tab is also helpful.
-	Any errors or omissions please contact me at durnoandy@gmail.com and I will correct same.
Thank you to all who have contributed to this with special thanks to Robert Strock, John Strock and Jean Mullen who conducted endless hours of research.
