This research on the Newman and Davis Families of Carroll County, VA was begun in the 1980s, by Thelma Ardythe Newman without the aide of computer research, then laid aside. It was dusted off and transcribed onto this TribalPages site by Ardythe's daughter Val Baugh. Ardythe passed 2011. The Newmans are descendents of Conrad(Coonrad) Newman and Nimrod Newman who came from Germany with their father Johann by way of Switzerland. I have since added my father's Rice and Lawrence Families of Franklin Co., VA and my husband's family from OK. Most all came from Europe, a few were American Indians. Most of the families on this site are from Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina and Oklahoma. I place a ? mark by that which has not been proven. The folks in Carroll Co., VA proudly share their information and family photos and I include many that are not directly related to me, but fill in the rich history of Carroll County and for this I would like to thank all those local historians who share. This is a work in progress and when you find an error, or a family connection please e-mail me. email@example.com. I live in California and only occasionally visit Virginia. I have had my DNA done on Ancestry.com and found my DNA matches to Lawrence, Newman, Vaughan, Fuller, Williams, Arthur, etc. I uploaded my tree to Ancestry and made it public. Notes and photos not included.
