Hello!  My name is Sally Walker. I am the great-granddaughter of Antonio and Mariana Braga through their daughter, Louise (Braga) Walbrecht and her son, Donald A. Walbrecht. Don and Lucy Walbrecht are my parents. I helped to organize the 2005 Braga reunion in Clayton, Idaho. For many years I've kept the family records and continue to try to make sure they are kept up to date for our future generations. 

This website was created for the descendants of Antonio and Mariana (Silva) Braga who originally came from the Azores and settled in Gooding, Idaho, USA. It is through their eleven children and thirty-four grandchildren ("The Cousins") that generations of loving, kind-hearted family members have descended from and have continued their legacy. 

What began as occasional family gatherings through World War II and the post-war years turned into a tradition of meeting as a family every five years throughout the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s... until the last large, organized reunion in 2005. The Braga Family Tree branches have grown as each of the eleven branches have continued to grow.   Perhaps one day we can organize again into one giant reunion. 

Until that day, I've created this website (and I'm working on other family history projects) to help those working on his/her own family genealogy work or for those who are just wanting to learn more about our family heritage. 

This site also provides the opportunity to share the latest family news and pictures with one another without it being shared on other pages like Facebook does. The information gathered here each month automatically produces a monthly newsletter with the news and upcoming birthdays and anniversaries and sends it out to any registered member who opts in to receive it. 

This is a family members-only, password-protected site where we can share pictures, information, and stories of memories, accomplishments (awards, graduations, honors, retirements, promotions, etc. etc.) and share exciting family news- births, engagements, weddings, etc. and also, to share the sorrow as we mourn the losses of family members with shared stories of the times spent together.  

I will announce the website on the Braga Family Facebook Page and will send out invitations to family members with the contact information I have on file. I hope I did not leave out anyone on the family tree, but inevitably I likely did. Please update any incorrect or missing information. Also, please help spread the word to family members to register. A lot has changed since 2005 so information needs updating on correct emails, so everyone is aware of the site and has the opportunity to register. 

You MUST be a member of the family tree - descended from one of the eleven Braga children of Antonio and Mariana Braga to be approved and must be able to identify yourself.
