About The Cacioppo Family (New Orleans, LA)
Please sign in to see more.
My Great-Grandfather, Leonardo Cacioppo, was born in Sambuca, Sicily in 1876. He was 1 of 9 children: Jasper, John, Antonio, Pietro P., Giuseppe ("Joseph") Carl, Leonardo, Cologlia ("Anna"), Baldassare ("Benjamin"), & Salvatore

From what I've learned, Leo & "Benjamin", left from Naples and arrived in New York on Dec 3, 1902. They arrived on a ship named The Victoria.

Leo was married to Concetta Difranco
Ben was married to Josphine Difranco (Concetta's sister). The sisters were originally from Florance, Italy.

Leo lived in New York for 2 years. He then moved to Chicago for a while. He tried to open a bar in Chicago, but it didn't work out, so he moved to New Orleans & opened his bar there. Leo & Concetta had 8 kids - 1 was my grandpa, Gaspar. Gaspar and my grandmother (Frances Cannatella) had 7 kids- My dad (Peter) is the 2nd youngest.

A few of the other siblings also came to America. I was able connect with a descendent of Giuseppe ("Joseph") Carl Cacioppo. That family settled in Chicago.

Salvatore (Sam) & Pietro (Peter) raised their families in NY (possibly Brooklyn area). Peter and his wife Lena (Calogera) Porcaro came to NY at the end of 1899, with their 3 children: Katie (Caterina), Andy (Antonio) and Severia (Lilly). Five more children were born in the US. All their children remained in NY most of their lives.

I also have a tree on www.ancestry.com
