About The Cater Family
Please sign in to see more.
My "CATER" family originated from 1200 in Huntingdon UK and are now fairly scattered in the
Midlands of England. My younger brother, Barry in the 60's has starting a tribe in Australia. In
the 1940's to 1960's my family lived in the Bedford,
 Bedfordshire area having moved from
Huntingdon. My father and his predecessors were Freemen of
Huntingdon. This Honour was passed from
father to eldest son providing they were born in Huntingdon .The title stopped with my father as I
was born in Bedford and not Huntingdon. My Aunt Dulcie Cater traced our line back to 1200,but
unfortunately her work was not on computer, but hard copy, and has been misplaced or lost. King John in
1199 gave certain common lands to selected families in
Huntingdon, the Cater's being one. I am trying to retrace the steps my Aunt Dulcie took and record my findings on this web site .Any help from any quarter would be appreciated, i hope you find this of
interest. Please do not hesitate in contacting me with any information or queries regarding my "Tree", Namedropping, I am related Royalty and to many famous people. Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, John Quincey Adams, William Henry Harrison, James Monroe, Benjamin Harrison, Rutherford B Hayes and William Howard Taft were all Presidents of the USA and HRH Dianna Princess of Wales, is my 10th Cousin twice removed. Charles Darwin, ,Jonathan & John Browning are amongst the scientists and inventors included in this list, also Entertainers and Artists include Buster Keaton, Marilyn Monroe, T.S. Elliot, Shirley Temple and Bing Crosby. This project has given me great satisfaction over many years regards David Cater !940-?
