HADDRELL COAT OF ARMS

The family name of Haddrell was originally Hatherell but because of the
local accents it changed slowly to Haddrell. In those days only the elite and
the clergy were literate so it was spelt how it was spoken.  In some cases the surname
changed several times through one generation.

Ian Haddrell has been able to research back as far as 1551 with the baptism of
Bartholomew Hatherell in Calne, Wiltshire, England.  There were other Hatherell's
before this but Bartholomew's
line has been able to be traced to the present day.
