About The Lucas-Smith family
Welcome to the Lucas-Smith family website. You will find birth, death and marriage details for over 5000 of my children's ancestors.

I have managed to trace all branches of my tree back to when they first arrived in Australia - most arrived within the first 50 years of European settlement. It has taken me over 20 years with a lot of help from family members (sometimes very distant) and others that were interested in the same surnames. There were two First Fleeters (1788 from England to Port Jackson); William Nash (Marine Private) and Maria Haynes (William's girlfriend), one bushranger Johnny Dunn (who was in Ben Hall's gang but hanged age 19), and four convicts; Henry Cook, Jane Manley, Mary Stephens and Benjamin Gore.

If you are interested in researching one of our ancestors, or have information that I should add to my tree, I would be pleased to hear from you. Please sign the guest book, leaving your email address if you wish. The focus of my research in 2009 is on Smith (from Lancashire), Berrington (from Cheshire), Booth (from Cheshire), Clarke (from Ireland) and Annison (from Norfolk, England). I use the Family Tree Maker program to record my family tree and then upload it to this site periodically.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
