About Coughlin Genealogy
Welcome to the Coughlin Genealogy site.

Coughlin history traces roots from Ireland and information here is centered from the life of Jeremiah Coughlin, father of William Montgomery and Grandfather of James and Joseph Coughlin. Using a journal written by Jere Coughlin, his oldest daughter Mary Theresa(Tesse) began tracing family roots in 1910. Many years later her younger brother Francis Coughlin continued the process visiting churches, cemeteries, and research locations in Canada and Ireland. Jim Coughlin, William's son continued this process along with Joey Coughlin (Son of Joseph) who drafted notes and information into a 133 page document distributed in the early 2000's to members of those families.

While exploring the Lynch family (Jim's mother's side) He found a cousin Terry Lynch (Son of Bill Lynch) had also taken a keen interest and was developing a genealogy of the Lynch family. Terry was kind enough to share this which traced that family roots back through Ireland and France from the early 1700's A huge thanks to Joey, Terry and Jim for the information presented in a living document now transferred to the web here by Jim's son Monte (James JR)with help from his son (Jim's grandson) Troy who will be the site administrator going forward. The hope is for current and future generations to use, update and share from their own lives.
Jim Passed away on June 6, 2021 and a Journal of his Life was placed up on his page at his request following his death. Joe Coughlin passed away on July 30, 2022 and is buried in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery in Watertown NY.

The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list.
