About Ancestors of the Cyrus, Garvin, Holum, and Mullendore Families
With origins as distant as the Middle Ages, the meeting of the families on this site are the result of the American melting pot. The Cyrus(or Cyrys as it was originally spelled) surname of this family got its start in the Silesia region of central Europe, more specifically near the present day city of Opole, Poland. The Garvin family(and its offshoots) originated in the British Isles with known ancestors going back well over 500 years depending on the specific line. The origins of the Holum family begin during the 16th century in Snåsa, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. The origins for the Mullendore family begin with one immigrant before the American revolution. In addition to the families listed, this site contains a nearly complete genealogy for the parishes of Snåsa and Lierne in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway prior to 1930. It also contains a significant number of people born in Beitstad and Inderøy, Nord-Trøndelag. Other regions of Norway with a significant number of people on this site include Brønø in Nordland, Odalen(Anderson family ancestors) in Hedmark, and Krødsherad/Sigdal/Eggedal(Ellefson family ancestors) in Buskerud. In Sweden there are a significant number of people that were born in the Jamtland and Västernorrland(Nyberg family ancestors) regions. As a very slight 2020 update, my offline database contains about 5000 more individuals not listed on the site. Most of those individuals were born in the Opole region of Poland during the 19th century(then of Schlesien, Prussia). Villages included: Czarnowanz, Frauendorf, Borrek, Horst, Zelasno, Goslawitz, Biadacz, Halbendorf, Luboschutz, Chrosczinna, Kempa, Neudorf, and Dometzko. Of these additional individuals not yet on this site, some of the more common surnames were: Bartylla, Czok, Dlugosch, Gallus, Gonschior, Hylla, Michalla, Niedworok, and Zowada. |
