Convicts

2nd Fleet
 My wife's 5th Maternal Great Grandfather Thomas Roker Gosper arrived in Sydney on the Surprize (a convict ship) from England in 1790.  Thomas had been convicted of cutting 3 pieces of rope from a Lighter and sentenced to 7 Years Transportation.

3rd Fleet
 My wife's 5th Maternal Great Grandmother Marry Ann Hipwell arrived in Sydney on the Mary Ann (a convict ship) in 1791 from England.  Mary had been convicted of stealing and sentenced to 7 Years Transportation.

My wife's 5th Maternal Great Grandfather Richard Reynolds arrived in Sydney on the Atlantic (a convict ship) in 1791 from England.  Richard had been convicted of stealing 320lbs of lead upwards of the value of 50 shillings and one pair of cotton stockings and  sentenced to 7 Years Transportation.

My wife's 5th Maternal Great Grandmother Elizabeth Sterling arrived in Sydney in 1798 on the Britannia (a convict ship) from England.  Sarah had been convicted of stealing a Silver Watch and sentenced to 7 Years Transportation.

Richard and Elizabeth married.

My wife's 4th Maternal Great Grandmother Lucy Cooper arrived in Sydney on the Broxbornebury(a convict ship) from England in 1814.  Lucy had been convicted and sentenced to 7 years Transportation at The Old Bailey for Larceny.

My wife's 4th Great Maternal Grandfather John Tindall arrived in Sydney on the Indefatigable (a convict ship) from England in 1815. John  had been convicted and sentenced to 14 years Transportation for Receiving Stolen Goods.

My wife's 3rd and 2nd Paternal Great Grandparents Thomas & Ann Hayward and Elizabeth Hayward arrived in Sydney on the Duchess of  Northumberland from England in 1838 with Elizabeths brothers Thomas and John.

Elizabeth's "husband to be" Peter Wilson (from Norway) arrived in Sydney on the Peter Maxwell in 1858.

My 2nd Paternal Great Grandparents Thomas and Jane McClelland (from Northern Ireland) arrived in Port Phillip, Melbourne on the Alan  Kerr from Scotland in 1841. They were from Northern Ireland.

My Maternal Great Grandmother Honora Moloney arrived in Portland, Victoria from Ireland via Liverpool on the Utopia in January 1854.  Honora was from Ireland.

My 2nd Paternal Great Grandparents Charles and Sarah Hiam arrived in Port Phillip, Melbourne onboard the Onward from London  England in 1855

My Wife's 3rd Maternal Great Grandparents Henry and Mary Ann Freestone and their children including my wife's 2nd Great Grandfather  Henry A Freestone arrived in Sydney onboard the Ascendant from Southhampton in 1855.

My Wife's 3rd Paternal Great Grandparents Richard and Sarah Randell and their children including her 2nd Great Grandfather William  John Randell arrived in Sydney from Southampton aboard the Winifred in 1856.

Richards father was John Moses Randell. "John Moses Randell appears variously as “John Randell”, “John Moses Randell” and “Moses  Randell” with variants “Randell”, “Randall”, “Randal” for the surname. “Moses” seems to have been the name used in the family, with  “John” or “John Moses” used more formally, except that he was married, died and was buried under the name “Moses”.

The identification of John with Moses can be found in the Immigration Records for New South Wales. Richard Randell, his wife and  family, and brother William arrived on the ship Winifred on 1 Nov 1856. Richard gives his parents’ names as “Moses and Margaret, both  dead”. William gives his parents’ names as “John and Margaret, both dead”. The identification of Richard and William as brothers can be  found in the 1851 UK Census where William, described as a “Disabled Soldier”, is staying with Richard’s family in 1851 at No.9  Devonshire St., Chiswick." - Ancestry, note attached to John Moses Randell, Aland Randell originally shared this 22 July 2017, Accessed  20 February 2018.

My Maternal Great Grandfather Patrick Ryan arrived in Port Phillip from Ireland via Liverpool aboard the Crimea in June 1857.

My 3rd Paternal Great Grandparents Isaac and Bethia Attrill arrived in Port Phillip, Melbourne from the Isle of Wight via Plymouth  onboard the Victory in November 1857.

My Paternal Great Grandfather John Nicholas Lynch came to Port Phillip, Melbourne from Ireland (Oranmore, Galway) on board the ship  Champion of the Seas in 1863.

My 2nd Paternal Great Grandparents James and Henrietta Attrill and their children including my Great Grandmother Henrietta Bethia  arrived in Port Phillip, Melbourne from Jersey in the Channel Islands via London onboard the Golden Land in 1864.

My Wife's Paternal 2nd Great Grandparents William and Mary Ann Wade and their children including her Great Grandfather Robert Wade  arrived in Brisbane onboard the Windsor Castle from London in 1878.

My wife's 2nd Maternal Great Grandparents William and Mary Ann Webster and their family including her Great Grandfather Herbert  Webster arrived in Sydney from Plymouth onboard the Selkirkshire in 1884.

Ryan - My maternal grandmother Margaret Ryan was admitted to "Our Lady's Orphanage, Geelong" on  the 10th January 1872 with her five sisters; Mary, Catherine (Kate), Bridget, Anne and Ellen. Their mother Honor Ryan (nee Moloney) had  died on the 7th January 1872 and was buried on the 9th January 1872. Honor or Honora was from Tipperary Ireland and arrived in  Australia onboard the Utopia on the 25 January 1854. Margaret's father was Patrick Ryan from Tulla, Clare, Ireland and he had arrived in  Australia on the ship Crimea on the 22 June 1857.

My maternal grandfather was Charles Henry James Henderson.

Charles mother Margaret Clark arrived Melbourne on board the Conway in September 1858 (18 years old on arrival).
