This is my family tree website. It focuses on my LEATHERLAND ancestors who came from several  villages clustered around the town of Rugby : Clay Coton / Yelvertoft / Crick / Kilsby  (Northamptonshire) and Pailton / Monks Kirby / Stretton-under-Fosse (Warwickshire). My direct  Leatherland line moved to Churchover, Warwickshire in the 1860s and to Birmingham in the late  1890s.

I am hoping to trace all Leatherland families and their offshoots in the counties of Northants,  Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, so there are some entries in this site who are not  directly related to my ancestors. But I hope that this may be of use to other researchers.   
 Leatherland is a rare surname. It is most commonly found in the East Midlands (Nottinghamshire and  Derbyshire). The surname was probably originally Litherland derived from the town of Litherland  near Liverpool. The greatest concentration of Litherlands is in Lancashire and Cheshire.

It is possible to trace my Leatherland line back to Edward and Elizabeth Leitherland who lived in  Clay Coton, Northants from  the 1660s. Their descendants lived in the neighbouring villages of  Yelvertoft and Crick in the 18th century. One branch settled in Kilsby and Pailton.

The Leatherland tree is not complete, although it seems likely that most with that name in  Northants and Warwickshire are related. There are some gaps in the records and I have made some  educated guesses.

No one did more to study and write about the history of Kilsby and neighbouring villages than Gren  Hatton, who sadly died in 2017. Anyone with ancestors in Kilsby should read his books on the  village. I also  want to express my appreciation to my uncle, John Leatherland of Chingford, who  worked diligently to trace the Leatherlands several decades ago and who sadly passed away a few  months ago.
