About Lisa's Family History
I decided to create this tree in the hope that i maybe able to connect with others out there who are either researching the same families as myself or feel that they have something that they think they maybe able to contribute to my tree. Any help that others can give me is always appreicative.
I origionally started tracing my late mothers Carol Donelan Family Tree. I was fortunate enough to have already have alot of the ground work done. So i just continued to search from the information that i already had.
In the process i discovered my convict ancestors and got to understand how difficult their lives must of been when they arrived in Australia as convicts between 1788-1804 from the country in which they commited their crimes,as a result of the crimes committed that they were transported to Australia as part of their sentence.
These convicts helped Australia become the country that it is today and we should always remember them and never forgot the hardships they faced in effort to help build this country.
My mothers grandfather Richard Doneland was born in Killagh,Galway Ireland in 1837. In 1858 Richard migrated to Australia along with three of his other siblings, his brothers Robert and Charles and elder sister Elizabeth. They worked and lived with their uncle Acheson Ffrench at his property called Monivea in Hamitlon Victoria.
After tracing my mothers tree i decided that i wanted a challenge and decided to trace my fathers Brian Burke's family tree. That has proven to be very hard at times and very challenging. But with help from many people i have managed to put new leaves onto the growing tree.
I have gone back as far as 1789 Ireland. My Paternal Great Great Great Grandmother Bridget Kilfoyle married a Michael Bourke. They had 14 children. I have managed to trace William (My Paternal Great Great Grandfather), Bridget & Thomas. There could be a daughter Catherine but i have not been able to confirm this as of yet.
My Paternal Great Great Grandfather William Bourke b.1830 Tipperary Ireland married a women called Bridget O'Brien b.1842 County Galway Ireland at St Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Goulburn 1862. The Bourke family continued to live around the Goulburn up until the early 1930's when my grandfather William Patrick Burke moved to Sydney with his wife Edith Mary Hoye and their four children Joan, Brian, Peter and Paul.
My paternal Grandmother Edith Mary Hoye was born in 1892 Murrumburrah-d.1974 Manly NSW. Edith married William Burke 1918 in Young NSW. They had four children, Joan, Brian my father, Peter and Paul (Twins).
Edith's parents were Patrick Hoye b.1864 Boorowa NSW -d.1933 Murrumburrah NSW and Mary Ellen Short b.1866-d.1941 Wollongong NSW. Ediths siblings were Laura Josepine Hoye b.1889,Veronica Ethel Hoye b.1894,Richard Stanley Hoye b.1897 & Rita M Hoye b.1906. All children were born in Murrumburrah NSW.
The current line i am searching is that of my 4th Maternal Grandparents Rachel Early and Samuel Marsden. Rachel was a convict that came out with the first fleet on board the vessel the Friendship she married fellow convict John Price in Sydney Harbour June 1788. John Price left Rachel. Not much is know about his whereabouts. Rachel began a relationship with Soldier Samuel Marsden of the NSW Corps. This relationship produced a daughter named Elizabeth who went onto marry another convict called Uriah Allender. Samuel left Rachel and married a women called Ann Harmsworth they had six children together. Rachel died in Tasmania 1842 aged 73. Samuel died in Liverpool NSW 1830 aged 60.
Thankyou for visting my page and feel free to contact if you have any queries regarding the page.
Many Thanks
