About Mitchell & Proctor Family Tree
Please sign in to see more. When I was a teenager, I asked my Granny Mitchell about my paternal side of the family because I wanted to start finding out about my ancestors. She told me it was best to leave such things alone as you were never sure about what you might find hidden in the cupboard! That was that...until about 20 years later when my dad gave me a book called "The History of Our Family". It was a book in which I could record details of all my family and ancestors.
Dad's inscription at the front of the book reads "To a dear daughter. If you find any skeletons on either side of the family please bury them once and for all!!." A wonderful gift from a loving father who hadn't forgotten my disappointment at his mother's words.
I filled the book up as much as I could but soon realised that there was so much more to find out and of course I was curious to find out if there were indeed skeletons in the cupboard somewhere! I had to put all this onto the back burner while my children were growing up, I just didn't have time, but started researching in earnest in 2004. To date I have found nothing truly shocking about my ancestors and many delights!
This site is a work in progress and I have generally added only data that I have verified, I still have many names to add. My family mainly came from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Moray and Ross & Cromarty in Scotland but there were a few brave souls who left these shores and I have been delighted to find cousins in South Africa, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand! I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks that they might connect with my family and of course, anyone who thinks that I might have gone wrong somewhere!
I would like to thank all my new found relatives and fellow researchers who over the years have given me invaluable help and advice and finally my family for their encouragement. Please sign my Guestbook and let me know what you think!
