JOHANN JURGEN FABER – DIE STAMVADER
 Op 4 Februarie 1762, arriveer Jan Jurien (ook bekend as Johann Jürgen) Faber, ‘n matroos in diens  van die Vereenigde Oost-Indisch Geoctroijeerde Maatschappij (VOC), aan boord van die Huis te Boede  aan die Kaap van Goeie Hoop. In Tulbagh op 14 Apr 1771 trou hy en Maria Magdalena Brits van de  Kaap. Tussen 21 Apr 1771 en 14 April 1784 doop hulle sewe kinders. Hierdie stamboom fokus op die  afstammelinge van hulle twee seuns, naamlik Cornelis Jacobus Faber en Michiel Gerhardus Balthasar  Faber. Daar het ook ander Faber stamvaders in die 19de en 20ste eeu vanaf Duitsland en Holland na  Suid-Afrika geimmigreer, maar die nageslag van JJ Faber is egter die oudste en grootste Faber  familie in Suid-Afrika.

JOHANN JURGEN FABER - THE PROGENITOR
 On 4 February 1762, Jan Jurien (also known as Johann Jürgen) Faber, a sailor in the service of the  Vereenigde Oost-Indisch Geoctroijeerde Maatschappij (VOC), arrived with the ship Huis te Boede at  the Cape of Good Hope. In Tulbagh, on 14 Apr 1771 he married Maria Magdalena Brits van de Kaap.  They baptised seven children between 21 Apr 1771 and 14 April 1784. This family history focus on  their two sons, Cornelis Jacobus Faber and Michiel Gerhardus Balthasar Faber. In the 19th and 20th  century other Faber families immigrated to South Africa mainly from Germany and the Netherlands.  However, the descendants of JJ Faber are considered the oldest and largest Faber family in South  Africa.
