About FilsLambs

This tree follows the Hailsham and East Sussex Lamberts, and the associated Guy, King and Funnell families, about the world, and includes Australian, American and Canadian lines, which are yet to be expanded and updated.

The bulk of the data here has been compiled from internet genealogical sources, and/or family traditions and records. Some certificates are in hand or have been sighted, but I am largely reliant upon the accuracy of transcriptions and original documents in the various genealogical sites. All persons recorded here have been individually entered and no gedcoms have been uploaded.

There are some interesting connections to John Lambert 1488, the head of our known Lambert family. He was a French legal immigrant from Normandy, who arrived in England about 1510, specifically invited to enhance the Wealden Iron Industry with the knowledge of blast furnacing techniques as employed on the continent. A few of those direct or marital connections in this tree, are:-

His eldest son, also John Lambert, who became an ironmaster at Ashburnham in Sussex, and at Cranleigh in Surrey, where he subsequently purchased the forge and furnace at Vachery: The two Lewes based artists James Lambert senior and James Lambert junior: The Three Smith Brothers, William, George & John, artists of Chichester: Thomas Turner, the author of "The Diary of a Village Shopkeeper 1754-1765": Sarah (nee Piper) French, the "Onion Pie Murderer", the last woman hanged at Lewes Gaol, Sussex: Jack Russell Lambert of Crowborough, Sussex, "The Smallest Man in England": Joe Vine, professional cricketer for England (then MCC) and Sussex County CC: William James Vine, nephew of cricketer Joe Vine, author and self-publisher of "Old Willingdon": Bob Marley (Nesta Robert Marley), Jamaican reggae musician:
Stage & film actress Lillian Jessica Tollis, who used the stage-name of "Zeta Morenta": David Guy 1835, Superintendent Registrar, who funded the Chiddingly Parish Church Tower Clock. The Fuller family, including "Mad Jack" who was responsible for the many folies at Brightling. Lancelot 'Capability' Brown the landscape designer
 Sir John Palmer Acland, baronet
 Sir Francis Drake
Sir George Augustus Elliott, Lord Heathfield Governor of Gibraltar Joseph Francois Bouchette surveyor-general for British North America and Canada and responsible for the International boundary between Canada and USA, Lewis Berger the paint manufaturer

Additions, corrections and updates are continually added, and usually trail several months behind current known findings, so the site might reflect 'out-of-date' material.

Having made my excuses for any inaccuracies that there may be, please enjoy, and I hope that you may find something of use or interest. You are free to use any of the information recorded here, but in the interests of personal security, full access to data relating to living persons must remain only possible for direct family members. Additionally, certain persons within the tree, even though they may be no longer living, have been protected with "LIVING" status, at the request of family members who have provided the source material.

At this time, I have not included all sources, although I have them on record, and some are included in any notes. This site is still very much under construction, and will be forever in a state of 'updating'. No family tree is ever complete.
Much of this tree has existed for a long time, and been built upon for many years, before transferring the data to this site.

I wish to acknowledge the contributions by Val Beck, Morris McGiffin, Peter Cassidy and the Fallas/Livesey family, for the valuable information and photographs that they have contributed in respect of their sides of the family.

Update 11th June 2017

Once again it has been necessary to change the password for this site. Due to further recent suspicious activity, it has been necessary to once again revue the security of this site. it is now considered that maximum privacy be required. Other than this homepage, all such access is now restricted to family members only who have the 'access code'. In this respect, the former access code has been revised again, and members who previously held that old password are requested to re-apply for the new code. Password holders are please requested not to reveal the password to ANYONE, but to refer them to me through TribalPages, and not directly.

It is with regret that this has been found necessary, but the changes are in the interests of family members, and the protection of their personal data.

Site reviewed and security status remains the same as at 1st January 2018
