About Flighty & Montgomerie Family [Murphy, Wood, Morriss, McIntosh]
I knew very little of my father's mother's side of my family, Dad had mentioned Granny Wood [Jessie Flighty], Auntie Beat [McIntosh] and Auntie May [Morriss]. My grandmother, Olive Montgomerie, nee Wood died in tragic circumstances when my father was fifteen, so not a lot was said about her. A few years ago I started researching and found that my grandmother had half- sisters and that her mother, Jessie Flighty had two sisters and a brother.....and so the search began. I have now extended the search into a number of families - Bailey, Snow, Martin, Affleck, Dew and have met some new relatives.

I am now including details of my father's father's family - the Montgomerie's. My grandfather was Adam Montgomerie, third child of James Montgomerie and Christina McLeod. Unfortunately much of James and Christina's early life remains a mystery but I am hopeful we will break the brick wall. Before we visited Scotland in 2009 I restarted the research into the Montgomerie Family. I am very grateful for the information my second cousin Peter Montgomerie shared with me. He had visited Scotland a few years earlier and was able to point us in the right direction. We based ourselves in Lanark [where the Montgomerie's lived] and finally discovered the grave of my great, great grandparents, John Montgomerie and Elizabeth Harris. It was a very special moment.

I try to ensure that all information is correct but sometimes a few glitches may occur. Another pair of eyes is good to look over the information so if you find any mistakes or errors please let me know.

And if you have more information I would love to receive it! I am keen to receive copies of photographs as many of the older ones are un-named and are often thrown away. If you do not have a use for old photographs I would love to receive them. I managed to name nearly all the people in an old album I found of my father's!

Please share this site with your family, whilst they may not be interested in family history now, I am sure that one day they will start asking questions. I am very happy to give family members access to the site so that they can update details on their particular branch of the family.

Greg and I live in the house which my parents [Harold & Lorna Montgomerie] and grandparents [Adam & Olive Montgomerie]lived in. If you are travelling through the Wairarapa we would love to meet you, we are just a few minutes outside of Greytown [for directions see www.kahikateagardens.co.nz]

Update 2019 - Those who follow this site will have noticed changes. I started with a free Tribal Pages site then moved to a "premium site". From August 2019 it will revert back to a free site hence I have had to reduce the information, particularly photographs.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
