About Dobra Voda & Kúklov to Sterling MI
Prohaska Family Album

Trees Without Roots Fall Over.

This family album & website is dedicated to the fourteen children of Frank and Julia Prohaska who have provided us with strong roots. Family members were invited to share via a branch contact and this book is the result of those who responded. Please forgive me if we were unable to contact you, and also for any errors, omissions, typographical errors, etc. The family album consists of 20 chapters found under STORIES under the PEOPLE TAB at the top of this website. Under STORIES, just click the links in each chapter from 00, the introduction, through each of the fourteen children, chapters 1 to 14 as well as additional family history chapters. Be sure to read pages 25-29 of the introduction (chapter 00),click on the link to Frank and Julia, memories by Stefan Davidek.

Also on this website are the ancestors of Frank and Julia, found in the Catholic Church of Slovakia baptismal records microfilmed by the church of the Latter Day Saints. These ancestors can be found by clicking Tree or Ancestors under the VIEW tab. Julia's family records can be traced back to the 1797 marriage of her great grandparents in Kuklov so at this point no connection to Alphonso Múcha born in 1860 in Moravia. Frank's parents and grandparents of Dobra Voda are also shown when clicking the VIEW and TREE tabs but his great grandparents still being researched.

This website is created in lieu of constantly updating the paper album and creating paper or cd copies for multiple viewers. Previously there was duplicate entry involved in updating the family tree diagram and also updating the text of the family album with no easy way to share updates with a large number of people. With online access to this website the process is greatly simplified, and can be viewed readily by any family member or multiple members at the same time.

Now with only one entry of an individual they are automatically included in tree diagrams and text reports. See Tree or Reports under the View tab above, should you wish to see a text view or the family tree for a particular ancestor. The only tricky part is one needs to know their birth name, so for example to create a report on my grandmother, Helen Gulvas, one needs to find Helen Prohaska (birth name) in the drop down box. Likewise if creating a tree or report for my aunt, Helen Prohaska, one needs to use the drop down box for Helen Rokosz, her maiden name. If you don't know their maiden name, you can tree up or down from individual whose names you do know. This website includes step children and adopted children as direct descendants with a note next to their birth information.

This website is just a repository, not a search engine and is private, only available to those who are invited and it will not ask you to join anything or display ads. Links are provided as well as information about the sources of data records should you wish to try some ancestry searches on your own. Beware, it can be addictive hunting for dead relatives.

Be sure to check out the photos (enlarge for better viewing), and the birthdays and anniversaries, listed under events in the PEOPLE tab above (either in list form or as a calendar). Also replacing the index of individuals is a list of names, seen in the name- index under the PEOPLE table above. With the names index, you can easily look up any Prohaskas, etc to see if and how related they are related to you.

Please let me know if you have any additions, changes, photos or questions.

Warm Regards,

K Rokosz

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
