About F-C-H Main File, secondary fallback site
This fallback site has been recreated by me, James Fraser, in order to preserve the enormous
amount of data held on the main website of www.fraser-courtman.co.uk, and under the phpgedview
programme within that website, and is as up to date as i can get it. If you find yourself redirected
here its probably because i deemed it so, and because of some major failure of the names database,
and/or the backup database on the main site, You should notice the main website home page of
www.fraser-courtman.co.uk will give you a warning about this, but as that is all manually created
it could take a day or two. Alternately you might have simply come across this site from a search,
and that's fine but please be aware it might not be fully up to date! and very limited for images.
You need to request access here first as that's how the site works, please give as much information
as possible to help with my decision. Then if given the ok you will be able to log in, and normal
family access rights are edit your tree only, you don't get to mess up the whole site! No tree or
link? then no access!
Family access is given only to trusted members, who are already registered on the
www.fraser-courtman.co.uk names database. New members must give at least one person they are linked
to from the site, or a family link, or your request will be deleted!
You will find only a few family images on this backup site, but that might change as time allows. Mainly i am thinking of record Images, and there are many of those! and it is hoped that this site will replicate the main database on www.fraser-courtman.co.uk, well thats the plan!
The public records on the main site of www.fraser-courtman.co.uk are unaffected by this
redirect, and should still be available unless the whole site has crashed!. Click the link on the
side bar, or further down to get back to www.fraser-courtman.co.uk home page, why not right click
and open it in a new tab in your browser, thus making it easier to slide between the two sites.
Apologies for any inconvenience, James Fraser
Why all the security? Good question, but an easy one to answer. When i first started all this
i hosted with Family Tree Maker through the programme, they stole my information and charged people
to view it. Ancestry did similar but it was about the same information then. More recently i hosted
on Family Tree Guide with security, then one day it all fell away and my site was left open to the
web, all security stripped away and the information was harvested by anyone. That is why i hosted my
own site as www.fraser-courtman.co.uk. but found a need to have a fall back, and here it is. I have
researched a little about this site, and it appears to be genuine and not a harvester, but i really
cant be completely sure but seems to have good reviews. I agonized over theft against safety in my
data, thats why i still keep this location so my data is safe, and so far secure. I have no problem
with genuine AMATEUR researches wishing to enlarge their tree, and thats something i also strive to
do, but my anger is pointed at the paid for sites and their web bots harvesting the often paid for
information, and then charging others to view it!
So dont you want people to connect? Yes of course, but visitors get a list of surnames on the
main page and can request access, giving as much information for me to make a decision. In
addition i am considering opening up a little for the connections option, and as that's a paid
option i need to consider the best one for me, but the cost is not an issue.

Getting Around There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.
In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool. |
