During the 1910 united federal census the family's last name was spelled McBride, by 1920 census the name was again listed as McBryde in the census for all that was living in the family home. sometime between the 1920 and the
1930 census one branch of the McBryde family was name was listed as McBride, there by making it look

Family Reunion History

In August of 1968, a celebration was held honoring the 76th birthday of Kate McBryde, at her home in St. Pauls, NC. Kate was born August 4, 1892. During the celebration the true spirit of family love was at an all-time high. It was at that time a conversation involving Hazel McBryde Robinson and Harold McBryde sparked ideas of an annual family gathering. Sharing this with other cousins present, it was right then and there, by mutual consent, that the descendants of John Calvin and Mary Monroe McBryde birthed the McBryde Family Reunion.
Each year afterwards, the first Saturday in August was the time set aside for the family reunion. The family members would meet at different locations every year to enjoy good food and fellowship. They would travel from one county to another in North Carolina to visit each other, laugh, and talk about what the year had brought. The Wayne and Robeson county descendants mostly hosted the event.
The family began to grow by leaps and bounds. Many moved to different states and countries. It was then when the family agreed to take a progressive concept . In 2009, a formal committee was created to include descendants from all nine children of John Calvin and Mary E. McBryde. The family agreed to extend the one day to an entire weekend event of fun and fellowship. The name was changed from McBryde Reunion to McBryde/McBride Reunion.
Becoming increasingly aware of the enormous size of the family and the inability of some to travel, the reunion went on the road in search of connection in 2015. That was the year the Reunion Rotation was adopted. The regions of the rotation include North Carolina ( area counties), the southern area (Georgia, Florida and South Carolina), and the northern area (Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia). The first out- of- state reunion was hosted by the descendants of Henry McBryde in McDonough, GA in 2015.
2018....50 years later....the legacy still lives.......
