About Caesar and Pauline Griffin Descendants
Please sign in to see more.
Hello to all Griffin family! Gwen and I are test-driving this sample website to see if it's user friendly enough for everyone to use. We welcome you to this effort and celebration of our ancestors. Our goal is always to educate and elevate, so please give us feedback if we're not hitting the mark.

The first step to explore this website is to read the tips below in "GETTING AROUND" and then search for YOURSELF and see if there are mistakes or missing info for your immediate family. Please let us know and we will make corrections promptly!

Once you are certain that all of the information about your family is correct, there is also a tool to print a chart of your ancestors, or the descendants of someone in the tree. Go to the "VIEW" tab and scroll down to either "Reports" or "Printable."

Then you can browse to see how you're connected to others and explore what's in the photo albums so far. It would be wonderful to have at least one photo of everyone in our amazing family. You can help! We're looking for more volunteers to help improve this site and keep it going!

We have included as much historic record information for individuals as we have found, as well as links to their parents and offspring. If you see a miscellaneous fact in a relative's profile labeled "e.", this simply means that on Ancestry.com or other public records sources, Gwen and I have found a public record of some other type for this person. TribalPages has a limited number of database fields it offers, but we can list additional events in an "other" field. You will sometimes see a list of records cited below the person's profile.

A note about PRIVACY: The site itself is private, protected by the password given to family members by invitation only. If for any reason, you do not want specifics about a deceased family member included, please let one of the admins know. Also, if you do not want any information about your under-18 children included, please let us know. We wish at all times to be respectful and supportive. (Tribal does not yet have gender-neutral or non-binary options. If you identify as a different gender or as non-binary, please let us know and we will look for a solution.)

We can create biographies for any person with information provided by close family. These can be typed or pasted into the "Notes" field in the editing screen. So you can write a bio offline and either paste it in yourself or send it in an email to Gwen, Susan or one of the other administrators. The biographies we have entered so far rely on research by Dr. Jimmy T. Williams, Gwen Griffin Lewis, family friend Elsa Edwards and Susan Speers.

Another nice tool is the "relationships" calculator (under PEOPLE) which will quickly tell you how any two people are related.

And, check out the "Stories" link at the bottom of this home page for tips & tricks on Tribal Pages and uploading photos. In coming months, we can create Stories that include the important life events of our earliest known Griffin family.

Please let Susan and Gwen know what you think...! Hope to have at least one person from each family line interesting in helping make corrections, add missing people, and add photographs.

Love you,
Susan and Gwen

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
