About Hanley/Marcotte Family
Please sign in to see more.
This site was created by John E. Hanley, eldest son of Edward John Hanley and Elizabeth Mary Marcotte-Hanley. Elizabeth was always extremely interested in her family history and always had encouraged me to do something with a Family Tree while she was still alive and could provide input. Unfortunately, I always put off until the future this project and by the time I started, it was too late. This site is dedicated to Edward and Elizabeth Hanley and all the hundreds, if not thousands of people who in some way or another are a part of this family and this tree. I must also give credit to my nephew Mark Jefferson, eldest son of my sister Janet and our cousins Joan and Paula Hulick, daughter and granddaughter of Elizabeth's sister Louise Marcotte- Thatcher. Mark had already started this project and much of what I have, I have drawn from Mark's efforts. Elizabeth had discussed a family tree with Mark years before I ever took an interest. I believe my mother Elizabeth did see part of Mark's tree before she passed. Joan and Paula contributed immensely to my information and understanding of the Marcotte side of the family. Through them, many of the names of people my mother spoke of so often actually came to life for me. I would like to thank Mark, Joan, and Paula for all their input into this project. Without them, I could not have gotten as far as I have. I hope both Edward and Elizabeth are looking down and finding approval with the effort so far. I still have hopes of receiving input from the many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who are deserving of a place on this tree.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
