This tree and each of its limbs represent descendants, and ancestors of Sandy and Mattie  Hatten. Sandy Hatten, Sr. was born in North Carolina in 1835. An 1866 "colored" census places Sandy  as a worker in Lowndes County, AL then in 1880 45-year-old Sandy Hatten is a farmer residing in  Society Hill, Macon County, Alabama with Mattie (36) and children: Willie, Dave, Lucius, Sandy,  Nicey, Elijah, and Squire (aka Square). It is from these roots that all our branches grow.
