About My Hill Moore Amos Jennings Thew Family tree
Please sign in to see more.
This tree was created so that family and friends and possible relations out there in the world somewhere can see if we are related in some way and get in touch with new information. A big thank you to all relations close and distant who did a lot of research on the various branches (there's too many of you to name you all, sorry).

The furtherest our tree can be traced to on the Amos/Ames side (my great grandmother was
Ada Amos) was called Thomas Ames born in 1660's or 1670's in Uttoexeter in Staffordshire, England and his wife Elizabeth Barton. The family stayed as Ames (though I think Ames/Amos is interchangeable) until Thomas Amos (born Ames) and his wife Mary who lived in Warwickshire, England. A butcher by trade, he was born 1800. They had eight children. Richard, Ruth, Samuel, Mary (died as baby), Thomas, Mary, Elizabeth and William. Elizabeth married George Henry Thew. Richard married and moved to Tonga as a missionary and then later to Australia. And Samuel who married twice. Thomas Amos is the great grandfather of my great grandmother Ada Amos, who married Percival Alfred Hill, where my tree branch begins.

On the Hill side so far we can trace us back to Richard Hill in 1655 and his wife Ann Fairchild and their children. On the hill side we have stonemasons, a lot of people called Isaac, on the Amos' we have Ada's and Sarah's. Not to mention all the common names of the time like Mary, Elizabeth, George, Charles, William, Joseph, etc etc.

Our Moore side is actually two families, both from Gloucestershire, but unrelated as far as we know. We also have a Rawlings side from around Ruardean, Gloucestershire, and the Moore's who married them came from Drybrook area and Forest of Dean. The other Moore family originated in Gloucester and Bristol and married into the Tyrrell family, who also came from Gloucester.

Our Jennings side is from Ireland. Thomas Parkes Jennings (b.1855 in Newry, Armagh, Ireland) married a Mary A who was from Derry in County Monaghan in Ireland. They moved to Lancashire and had 12 children, nine of whom survived. They married into the Pearson family who were mainly from Lancashire.

I will update this site as time goes on. Please contact me if you want to query something or disagree with a date, dates are tentative. Happy reading! Don't forget to get in touch with new information if you have it - I would love to hear from you. Please sign the guest book to let me know what you think.

Belinda Hill.
