|About Hans Hofeldt/Martha Clausen Descendants and Ancestors
Hans Hofeldt (1810-1892) and Martha Clausen (1815-1902) lived and raised their family of eight
children on the island of Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein. Starting in 1868, the now-grown children
began coming to the United States. (They came in different years.) Hans and Martha themselves came
over in 1877.
There are now hundreds of descendants in the United States. This family tree includes those
descendants that I know of. It also includes ancestors of Hans and Martha. Most of the information
about their ancestors is from the Fehmarn Genealogy Site. (http://www.fehmarngenealogy.com)
I hope we can continue to add to, correct, and refine this site. Photos and family stories are
included to bring it alive.

I have been researching the Hofeldt family since 1981. Other family members have also been at work,
and we have built a good documented history. As we include more family stories, the Hofeldt epic
should be even more rich and interesting.
