About Hans Hofeldt/Martha Clausen Descendants and Ancestors
Hans Hofeldt (1810-1892) and Martha Clausen (1815-1902) lived and raised their family of eight children on the island of Fehmarn in Schleswig-Holstein. Starting in 1868, the now-grown children began coming to the United States. (They came in different years.) Hans and Martha themselves came over in 1877.

There are now hundreds of descendants in the United States. This family tree includes those descendants that I know of. It also includes ancestors of Hans and Martha. Most of the information about their ancestors is from the Fehmarn Genealogy Site. (http://www.fehmarngenealogy.com)

I hope we can continue to add to, correct, and refine this site. Photos and family stories are included to bring it alive.

If you are included in the family tree you are able to correct and add to the information about your immediate family...parents, selves and siblings, and children. You can also upload photos and write family stories.

I have been researching the Hofeldt family since 1981. Other family members have also been at work, and we have built a good documented history. As we include more family stories, the Hofeldt epic should be even more rich and interesting.

If you are a relative and want to see the Hofeldt Tree, please contact me using the link above and include an email address where I can reach you. When you choose a password, you'll be able to see the entire family tree...2600 people and counting.

I also hope to broaden the family tree to include Fehmarn Hofeldts and other relatives.

So, welcome cousins and other relatives!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
