About The Hudson/Williams Family Tree
Hi Family,

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the first part of 2020. I created this website because I wanted to visually show my kids their family and started with my mom's parents Lonnie Williams and Hazel Hudson Williams; thus Hudson/Williams Family Tree title. Of course its grown beyond those 2 branches. While the name is a place holder, this tree incorporates 222 surnames; all intertwined in some way, shape or form to each other. What an amazing, big, beautiful family!!

We are in the midst of some craziness in our country right now but God is still in control. I’ll just say 3 things. Check on your family and friends, wash your hands and PRAY!! As you all know, I do my best to keep in touch with as many family branches as I can. While this isn’t the entire scoop, it’s what I know!

In January, Bruce and Sandra Keene welcomed one additional great-granddaughter to their family, Zayna, born on January 30, 2020, joins big sisters Habiba and Shamsa. These three are Richard Hudson’s 5th great-granddaughters. What a blessing!

Black History Month was celebrated by family in many different ways. From volunteering, wearing t-shirts and giving back; we acknowledged our past and honored those that came before us. When I think about Richard Hudson and Lee Byers (both of my 2nd great-grandfathers) I’m filled with emotion and thankfulness. They worked and lived side-by side, built a church and through all things, provided for their families long before their children married (Olus Hudson and Mary Byers). If you don’t know the history please check out the STORIES section under the PEOPLE tab and read Liberty Baptist Church History. My 3rd great-grandfather George Meredith was born in 1828, likely enslaved, but registered to vote in Shelby, Alabama in 1867; his first opportunity after emancipation. With that said, I hope everyone gets out and votes; our ancestors fought and died for this privilege.

I also want to give a huge shout out to Rita Williams Haynes . She continues to be honored for the amazing things she has done for community credit unions. Check out the new picture that shows her and 3 of her mentees who are now CEO’s of large credit unions including her daughter Jama.

I’m so excited to have met cousins on my Byers side last year while in Washington DC. We are descendants of Lee and Mary Meredith Byers’ two daughters Mary and Alice. Wayne Hall (related to me on the Meredith side even another generation back) has updated his family lines and added photos. Charles Kemp has taken the lead for his side of the family and has done a fantastic job of getting the Byers/Harris/Jackson side of the family represented. They are planning a family reunion in Charlotte in July. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if you joined the celebration. I'll forward details to anyone interested.

Finally, if you want to know how you’re related to someone on this site simply click on the PEOPLE tab and drop down to RELATIONSHIPS. You can select two names and calculate your relationship.

As always, I’m sure there are other things going on but if you don’t post or share we’ll never know. Email me at phailey165@aol.com and I’ll be glad to update for you. Your anniversary, birthdays, etc. will only show up in the AUTO-GENERATED monthly Newsletter if you input it here. We are blessed to have each other and need to stay in touch.

Enjoy your day, share the love, and be blessed! Hugs and Kisses!
