About The Burniston/Humber/Spring/Syms story

.
This site is the ever evolving story of our ancestors. The journey has been quite amazing. From the small villages of Hampshire, Devon, Worcestershire and more, to the city of London where the struggle for some and the good fortune for others has unfolded. Thanks to the people we have met along the way who have supplied us with information and pictures. Thanks to those we have yet to meet because this is a never ending story. During research we have found that the transcriptions of some of the census records are a nightmare so where the names have been transcribed incorrectly or written badly we have put the correct name in our records but the one that is listed in brackets. Please note that where the exact birth date is not known but the christening date is we have used that. Please feel free to sign the guest book when visiting our site, as we would love feedback on your views of our family tree.In more recent times I have been trying to sort out the "Burniston" trees. This,so far,has been the result of over 40 years of research and consists of fifteen main trees, but they all originate from such a small area of Yorkshire, that I am convinced that at some point, they must all link up.Hopefully, somebody will help me prove this!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
