About Sheffield/Bellamy
WELCOME...We first started this site on Septmeber 10, 2003, for our two sons, "Derek Edmonds, II" and "Frankie Sheffield, III" and for generations yet to come, with a lot of help from many, many, family members.
We wanted our children to have as much family history as we could discover. This site is coming in handy for many family members. W/out their help we never could have gathered all this information; not to mention updating this family tree from time to time.

A INTERESTING FACT YOU WILL FIND IN YOUR RESEARCH...

"SURNAME SPELLING IN THE EARLY HISTORY DATED BEFORE 1850 WERE OFTEN MIS-SPELLED. SURNAMES IN THIS FAMILY TREE SUCH AS "BELLAMY" AND "BELLOMY" ALSO "ROE'" AND "ROWE" WERE OFTEN MIS-SPELLED. SOME PARENTS, THEIR SONS, DAUGHTERS,BROTHERS,SISTERS,OR COUSINS MAY HAVE USED MANY VARIOUS WAYS TO SPELL THEIR SURNAMES; AS YOU WILL SEE IN YOUR RESEARCH. WE DON'T KNOW WHY THIS OCCURRED."

We recently DISCOVERED AND PURCHASED a book written by AUTHOR: "JOE DAVID BELLAMY" on "THE BELLAMY'S OF EARLY VIRGINIA". This book has connected many Bellamy/Bellomy dots in our research. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE RESEARCHING YOUR BELLAMY/BELLOMY FAMILY LINE. A LINK TO HIS SITE IS BELOW JUST CLICK ON HIS NAME.

It is a interesting journey, exploring our ancestors!! Just look at the relationship tool, see we have some interesting ancestors...some of them sure were busy! AND WE THANK THEM for that, because WE ARE ALL HERE!!! It is extremely interesting to see what our ancestors did for a living, their hobbies, how much we may have in common. A lot of similar interests and hobbies have been discovered in this on going research. Just to mention a few discoveries, from career choices, to playing baseball, guitar, and with great skill in some cases.
Janet's father, Henry W. "Bellamy" Jr., gave us a lot of the "Bellamy" family history. More "Bellamy" history and facts came from Janet's Aunt Ruth (Bellamy) "Waterman" and her cousin's John Douglas "Bellamy", JR. and Karen "Waterman". We received a saved copy of Janet's grandfather's obituary from the local paper at the time of his death, from Janet's Aunt Ruth, in Aug of 2006. Aunt Ruth obtained the info from her half sister, Janet's Aunt Mae. Aunt Mae is Janet's father's only surviving half sibling from his 9 half brothers & sisters. Janet has never met Aunt Mae, but would love to.

Janet's mother, Mary Anne "Harding" Bellamy has given us as much info as she could, from the "Harding" and "Dox" families. The research is on going.

Much of this research from Frank's family was done by Henry Gordon "Benson". Henry passed along the info he had to his brothers and sisters, and many of his nephew's & niece's.
'Uncle' Henry passed away March 5, 2001. Janet only meet him a few times, she thought he was a handsome man with a head full of snowy white hair. He played baseball in the senior leagues up until he passed away.
Also Floyd V. "Sheffield", Jr. has given us so much information from his own exploring and research, including traveling' all over the United States. Visiting State Libraries, Court Houses, Old Cemetery's, Graveyards. He is serious in his research, he has gone through heavy overgrown bush to find some ancestors burial plots! Floyd also visited and meet with 1st, 2nd & 3rd cousins to get some of this information along his journey. Floyd played baseball in the senior leagues until the age of 65 or so. Much credit for the "Benson" and "Sheffield" side is given to Floyd and Henry with great appreciation.

We are still trying to obtain information on the "Bellamy", "Sheffield" & "Harding" family history. Any help or updates will always be greatly appreciated. Any information anyone has on our relatives/ancestors on any military time served, any illnesses, causes of death, or any other facts that may serve our family tree for future generations will also be greatly appreciated!

Any questions or comments; email us @ plantitjanet@verizon.net Enjoy Your surfin' or searching...GOD BLESS you & yours, Frankie & Janet

There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list.
