John Bastiste Malveaux was our grandfather. A strong, hardworking farmer who provided for his ten children and wife by harvesting crops on his +20 acres of land in Plaisance, Louisiana. He would rise at dawn to begin his daily works and go to bed at dusk. I remember the farm animals, the well where we pumped water to bring into the house, the out-house in the back, the pond where we would go fishing for crawfish, the great big pecan tree and the long lane that leads to the main highway. Pop would sometimes walk into town, Opelousas, to take care of business. There was always someone willing to give Mr. Malveaux a ride back to Plaisance. During the week, Pop wore an old hat that was stained because of his hard work but, on Sundays he was in his Sunday best suit and wore his Steston hat....looking very distinguished and handsome.
The Guestbook is available -- please leave a note. Can you tell us something about our family? It would be wonderful to read. What do you remember about your favorite Uncle or Aunt or Mother or Dad, etc.?
