Interesting family stories:

We have many early American colony settlers like John Crews, Jane Pierce, John Ladd, 
Nicholas Gattley and Jesse Smith. Dugal McQueen was sentenced to "transportation" to the 
colonies and indentured service for 7 years when he was captured by the English in the Jacobite 
Rebellion in Scotland.
We are part Scottish (Barclay, Clark, Ewing, Henry, McGehee, Wray), Irish (Wheeler), 
Swiss (Huber/Hoover), French (Bremer, Dozier, Fouquet/Fuqua), German 
(Ellemacher/Ellmaker) and English (Carpenter, Collier, Cotton, Crew, Hooke, Maxey and 
Pierce).
In 1620, our ancestor Jane Pierce was married to John Rolfe after his first wife, 
Pocahontas died. John is not really an ancestor, because Jane married our 
ancestor Roger Smith after Rolfe passed away.
Our g-g-g-g-great grandmother's aunt was Elizabeth Dandridge, Martha Washington's 
sister.
We are all Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution. Some of our relatives who fought 
in the American Revolutionary War:
Jonathan Carpenter, Capt. Thomas Collier, David Crews, James Ingo Dozier, John Dryer, James 
Ewing, Henry Ewing Jr., Joseph Fuqua and the Ellmaker brothers: Nathaniel, Elias, Jacob, 
Anthony & John Leonard Jr.
A distant cousin of ours, 16-year-old Galba Fuqua, died at the Alamo.
Squire Aathan Cruse, was a soldier in the Texas War for Independence. 
He served in the Bexar Campaign in 1835. About 10 years later, Squire Aathan Cruse served in 
the Mexican War under General Winfield Scott. For his service in the Mexican War, Squire 
received a pension from the government for the rest of his life. A marker was erected by the 
State of Texas in 1962 by his grave in the Cruse Cemetery, Tyler Co, TX.
Squire Cruse's grandfather, David Crews, lived next door to Daniel Boone and they 
argued "tomahawk law" over their adjoining property lines.
Our ancestor James Walter Barclay and his father Walter were warm friends of
Sam Houston in Tennessee. The Barclays moved to Texas shortly after Sam moved
to Texas.
One of our ancestors, a naval officer named Robert Henley, had an American naval 
fighting ship named after him - the USS Henley. 
Robert's brother had a destroyer named after him too - the USS John D. Henley.
A Cruse relative, Carl Mann Cruse, was the captain of the USS Princeton when 
it recovered the astronauts of the Apollo 10.
We're related to Dr. Robert Hooke, a 17th century English scientist who discovered the 
law of elasticity (Hooke's Law).
We're related to Jean Fouquet, a 15th century French painter famous for mastering both 
panel painting and manuscript illumination, and for inventing the portrait miniature.


Our in-laws have cool stories too:

The Levetos are related to Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone With The Wind.
The Levetos are also related to the outlaw, 'Doc' Holliday!
The Patat's are descended from a Treasurer for the English Royal Court.
The Hanchey's have an ancestor who was a hired gun that fought in the Texas War of 
Independence. The State of TX erected a monument at his grave for his service.
