About THE RAVESI and LO SCHIAVO FAMILY TREE
To My Dear Relatives,

We are the living legacy to those in our family who have gone before us. Our lives are the culmination of their struggles, strife and successes, and it is our role to pass the mantle of our history on to future generations. To know ourselves is to understand the journey of our forebears through time. The genealogy work represented in this website is a labor of love started by one but enhanced through the efforts and generous contribution of information by so many. As with any history, it will change and become that much richer through our continued discovery and input. It is my hope that each one of us will derive the same mixture of emotion and understanding that I have gained from this work and together we can pass to our family’s children an account that helps them understand their place within our proud lineage.

The tapestry of our history becomes more vibrant and rich as each of us contributes some bit of information to this website. Whether you add a name, correct a date or incorporate pictures or documents, you are enriching all our lives. Beyond simple knowledge we may gain of names and dates (the Who’s Who and When of our family), you’ll find how our surname changed in immigration processes, the countries from which our ancestors hailed, medical conditions that may have passed genetically, and so very much more. Believe me, you’ll find mystery, intrigue, romance and all elements of a completely enthralling novel. Seriously, once you get started exploring this genealogy you may find yourself hooked, as I certainly did, and all the better for all of us. Take time today to help preserve the story of our family and of ourselves. I think you’ll derive great satisfaction in the effort and reap great rewards as well.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
