Welcome ...

This website largely covers "Pentecost Families" from Truro/Creed, Cornwall, England. It includes coverage of Pentecost families who have emmigrated to:
 a) Australia and New Zealand - immigration dates include: 1849, 1887/1888 and others b) the USA in 1845.

(Note: to date: the site includes "4 separate branches" of NZ/Australia Pentecost's ... as yet I have been unable to connect the 4 branches).

Information about the 4 Branches:

Branch one: the "Edward Pentecost b.1800" branch from Surrey, England - includes a line that immigrated to Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand in 1859 (family colour - yellow)

Branch two: the "Richard Pentecost b. 1612" branch from Helston, Cornwall, England - includes a line that immigrated to Australia (family colour - blue)

Branch three: the "Phillip Pentecost b 1625" branch from Devon, England (colour fushia) includes a line that immigrated to NSW & Qld, Australia. Also a Navy Commander that immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Branch four: the "William Pentecost b. 1750" branch from Truro, Cornwall England (colour - red). This branch includes my G Grandfather "Edward James Wellington Pentecost b.1864" (known as Edward James Pentecost).

Lines of the 'William Pentecost b. 1750" (branch 4) include family who immigrated to: a) Brisbane,Australia in 1887/1888, and Hastings, New Zealand in 1902/1903; b) Victoria, Australia in 1849 and; c) Boston, Massachusetts/Chicago,Illinos USA in 1849.

My G.Grandfather "Edward James Wellington Pentecost" was born 1864 in Truro, Cornwall, England. Edward James Pentecost married Elizabeth Caroline Heard 1883 in Truro, Cornwall,England. They had two children, Richard John Nathaniel and Mable Jane, in Truro before departing for Brisbane, Australia in 1887/1888.

The Journey of the Edward James Pentecost and Elizabeth Caroline Heard:

Edward James Pentecost b.1864 Truro, Cornwall emigrated to Brisbane, Australia in 1887 & his wife Elizabeth Caroline Heard followed with their 2 children in 1888. They settled in the Indooroopilly/Toowong/Mogill areas of Brisbane, Qld, Australia.
Edward James was a dairyman/carpenter-builder by trade and also sold livestock and vehicles (back then horse and buggy) with the Penhaligon brothers.
Edward James and Caroline Heard had four more children while residing in Qld, Australia - my Grandfather Edward Thomas and his brother Sydney James, unfortunately two other sons died while infants.

Edward James emigrated from Australia and settled in Hastings, New Zealand in 1902. His family, Elizabeth Caroline Heard (wife) with 3 children, followed in 1903.

Today there are many 3rd, 4th, 5th and some 6th generation descendants of Edward James and Elizabeth Caroline Pentecost still residing in the beautiful countries of New Zealand and Australia.

 ** Penhaligon ... Richard b. 1748 (colour:green)
 ** Reeves ... from Augustin b. 1634
