|About The Webb Family
Denver Webb grew up in an orphanage in Texas since his father, Herbert Webb Sr. died in 1930 and his
mother, Alma Mae (McCravy) died shortly after his birth in 1926. Anna Hiemer's father, Thomas
Hiemer (Jr.) died when she was a young child. Even so, she immediately recognized the photograph
of her father as she approached age eighty, after having been in the nursing home for almost thirty
years. Her mother remarried in 1941 to Johann Bloch whom we knew as "Opa".
As a result, neither of our parents shared much family history with us as we grew up. Today we have
the wonderful resource of the internet to help us fill in the blanks and perhaps learn a little more
about those who came before us.
Linda has been an invaluable help in this project and between the two of us, we have managed to
follow the Webbs and the McCravys back into the distant past. At some time we also hope to get more
information about the Hiemers and the Bocks as well.
If you have the interest and the time to help, I have a shoebox filled with "mysteries and
anomalies" that are waiting to be researched. Pick a project or a question and spend as much time
as you care to in delving into our collective past. Also, a note about the photographs...if you do
not like the photo I placed next to your name or someone else, just send me a note with a pic
attached that you prefer and I will change it. I will be storing additional family photos on a
dropbox site now that I have a new scanner. If you would like access to them, all you have to do is
