Since about ten years I have been researching the ancestral line of Jacobus Wensink, my father, and have discovered that the Wensink family originated from Westphalia, in and around the town of Bocholt.
As was customary at the time the family name Wensink was sometimes substituted by the name Leikinck or Feltkamp, a custom used in Westphalia in connection with marriage of descendants into other farming families. And the family name was often substituted by that of the farm. This being so, I managed to trace us back as far as 1668. However, due to World War II a section of the archives of Bocholt were destroyed, causing a handicap in finding earlier research material. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.
