I am currently researching extensively Marion Chalmers Aitken's side of the family. I am currently eagerly awaiting Marion's birth certificate from 1860 to see what is actually on the certificate (maybe extra information) and to have proof of her birth. So far from what I have found out (and of course will continue to do my own research to cross check and make sure all information and dates are accurate with official records) is that Alexander Aitken and his wife Elizabeth (nee Harvey) came from Lanarkshire, Scotland out to New Zealand on an unknown ship before 1860. They had a lot of children - being around 10 children and 3 died earlier on apparently. I will be researching all these children and have already found out some interesting information. It appears that Marion had two sisters so far. Anne Scott Aitken who was born, married and died in New Zealand (Dunedin, Otago it looks like)  and Mary Elizabeth Aitken who came to Australia too like her sister Marion (was married) and lived in the state of Victoria. She died in Hawthorn, Victoria (so far I have a year of 1941). Mary was also called Polly! However, I need to see whether I can find out for myself whether that is true or not. 

I had not much information on Marion Chalmers Aitken originally.  I only knew small amounts of information such as who her parents names were and they came from Scotland before they arrived in New Zealand. I knew Marion was born in Dunedin, New Zealand in September of 1860 (and her son Louis was also born in New Zealand but in Auckland on the North Island whilst she was born on the South Island) but didn't know much about her siblings and their names. I'm starting to learn new things and uncover all this info.
