About The Davisons of Theodosia Street

In the early 1980's my mother completed an evening course called 'Tracing Your Family Tree' and then set about doing just that. She didn't have the advantage of a computer and online resources and had to do everything the 'long' way round. After she died in 1999 I kept all her research notes (safely stored in three carrier bags!)and about three years later got them out and went through them. And I have been hooked ever since! So this site is dedicated to my mother, Sheila Davison (nee Hassan) for setting me on the road of such a fascinating, but not yet complete, journey.

In 1966 when my parents moved out of Theodosia Street, Elswick, it was the end of an era. For 65 years there had been Davisons in Theodosia Street. My great grandparents, William Davison and Isabella Thompson Morgan moved into no 21 shortly after it was built and were there at the time of the 1901 census, later moving to no 9. When my grandparents, Thomas Davison and May Laidlaw were married, they moved into no 24, later moving to no 9. My father and all his siblings were born in Theodosia Street and when my grandmother died in 1961, my father moved his own family back into Theodosia Street.

Although my family history is not just about the Davison family, this is why I have chosen to call my family history website "The Davisons of Theodosia Street".

I have just started to put information onto this site and still have an awful lot more to do. In fact my family history is far from complete so I hope to add new information as and when I find it.

If anyone looking at this site links into my family, please feel free to contact me. I am always happy to share whatever information I may have, and am always grateful to receive any new information anyone else may have.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
