About Smith/Heffernan Family
Please sign in to see more. I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED TO FIND THAT MUCH OF THE WORK I HAVE CARRIED OUT OVER SO MANY YEARS IS AND HAS BEEN COPIED WITHOUT ANY ACKNOWLEDGMENT WHERE THE INFORMATION HAS COME FROM. PARTICULARLY FROM A NEVILLE KITCHENER WHO MANY YEARS AGO I WAS HAPPY TO GIVE INFORMATION TO ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT MUCH OF WHAT HE HAS ON HIS TREE HAS BEEN COPIED FROM MINE WITHOUT ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND INFORMATION THAT I PUT IN THE BRUNY ISLAND HISTORICAL LIBRARY HAS NOT BEEN ATTRIBUTED TO MY WORK. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT THE PASSWORD OF THIS WEB PAGE HAS BEEN WIDELY DISTRIBUTED WITHOUT ASKING ME FOR PERMISSION. I HAVE THEREFORE FELT IT NECESSARY TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD - SO IF ANYONE WISHES TO VIEW THIS TREE YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT ME.
I have been researching both mine and Barry's family trees since the early 1970's. I started before the advent of computers and our Hobart Archives only being available, at that time, twice a week for family genealogy. So it was a long and arduous task. Consequently I have amassed reams of material. I have tried, where at all possible, for accurate researching but of course there is always someone, and rightly so, that can dispute dates and places and I encourage anyone who looks at this site to let me know if I have made errors so that they can be rectified. I have tried, wherever possible, to acknowledge the areas and people where I have received my information from. If I have missed someone out then please accept my apologies and let me know so that I can rectify my error. In the earlier days I had no help at all other than the few relatives still alive that could give me their verbal recollections of times past and I acknowledge with grateful thanks their contributions. Aunts and Uncles now long gone and also to my husband's late grandmother Christina Smith for her help on the Whelan/Hayden families and to my dear mother Sheila who passed away in 2007. It is family members like these that we can all be thankful to for being willing to share their memories and in doing so they have perpetuated their family ancestry. If you use this site to update your own family tree, and I encourage you to do so, then please acknowledge that you have received the information from this site.
Feel free to sign the guest book and mention which family you are interested in, that way other people looking at this site will be able to see who has shown an interest and in whom.
I have recently been able to gather much more information about my late father's family. Up until only a year or two ago I have always assumed that because he was born in Adelaide South Australia, his ancestors were from there too. So, with the aid of this wonderful medium "the internet" and with grateful thanks to a cousin in Adelaide, namely Barbara Coleman, other distant cousins newly found - Lyndon Arnold, Nan Bosler, Louise Rakowski, and I am sure there will be more, I have been able to add yet another 'branch' to my family tree. Thank you to these people for your generosity in sharing your information.
With the very large family file on the GRUNDY family - much of this came from many hours spent in the State Library of Tasmania in Hobart and then with the advent of the internet I discovered a distant cousin via his wife LINDA BAINS who had extensively researched the family and very kindly forwarded this information to me. But like all information it needs to be checked and verified and via Ancestry.com and Find My Past.com this has been a long labour of love.
Please do get in touch if there is anything that I might help you with.
FOOTNOTE #1:
I have entered my daughter-in-law's family into my Tribal Pages. She is, after all, a member of our family. The tree in itself is quite large encompassing, JOHNSON, HALL, BALDOCK, JAGO, DOOLEY, EASTON - AND MANY MORE. I have gathered the information from various sources, mainly the internet, Ancestry.com, Church of LDS web site etc. Of course there are bound to be errors and any help would be greatly appreciated.
FOOTNOTE #2:
Also entered my son-in-law's tree (Barry Direen) - with names of DIREEN, PEPPER, CARTER, BRERETON, COAD, and, once again, many other names.
FOOTNOTE #3:
It never ends!!! My sister-in-law Lois McGuire now has her ancestry incorporated into my tribal pages. The names here are MCGUIRE, RAYNER, GROOMBRIDGE, HERON to name just a few. |
