About Hastings of Hunua
Please sign in to see more.
This web site documents my two main families the HASTINGS and the TIMSONS from c1600 to the present day. Prior to this date records are unreliable, although my DNA report suggests that we have a strong English background, plus Scandinavian, with a splash of Scottish in our blood. The HASTINGS at this time living in Gringley on the Hill and South Leverton , small villages in north-east Nottinghamshire. A very mobile tribe they moved to many other parts of England and emigrated to USA, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Family legend says that we have connections back to at least 1400's and the Earl of Huntingdon. I have recently(2020) added names prior to 1600 from research by The Family Search site but have not yet verified them myself(2020).
Secondly the TIMSON family from the Higham on the Hill and Burbage districts in Leicestershire, by the mid 1800's they had moved to the City of Leicester and later to Thurmaston in Leicestershire - my Mothers family. They were very loyal to the county!

Many other surnames are to be found on this tree of people who married into these families, however I have kept closely to the main trees and resisted the temptation to add more distant relations just to boost the numbers of people.

Branches of the Hastings families are currently to be found in England, USA, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

To date the Hastings tree extends from John, who was born in Gringley on the Hill, Nottinghamshire, England in 1652 through to my grandson Dafydd born in Papakura, New Zealand on 22nd August 2007. The Timson's from William Timson born around 1740 in Higham on the Hill, Leicestershire to my late uncle Robert Timson.
In 2020 I started investigating Hastings before 1600 back to 990,

In recent times I have added my wife Kay's birth family the FIELDS who originally lived in London England before emigrating to New Zealand in 1851. Both of the Fields sons married Parkerson sisters in Christchurch New Zealand. The Parkerson family were from Norfolk.
