About Leaves From the Family Tree
This family tree contains the family of Johannes Bast/Bost and his descendants. Johannes Bast/Bost immigrated from the Palatine region of what is now Germany. He and his family lived in the Williams Township of Bucks County, Pennsylvania and then followed the Great Wagon Road to Western North Carolina in the mid-1750's.

Johannes Bast/Bost secured a land grant on Adams Creek,in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, now Cabarrus County, west of St. John's Church. Some of his descendants are living there today. Traces of the old John Bost Meeting House Road remain on the farm even though the road has not been used for several generations. His land was within walking distance of the church. Johannes died in late 1777 but Susanna Catharina was living in 1787. St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery is the resting place of many of the Bost and related families.

While North Carolina retained many Bost families, there have been migrations to various areas of the United States. A large group of German-Lutherans from the Western North Carolina removed to Illinois.

Members of the Elias Bast/Bost family came to Mississippi. This is my line.Elias' grandson Martin Wilson Bost (1833-1913) came to the Toccopola area of Pontotoc County, Miss and raised his family there. M.W. Bost was a school teacher, farmer, Justice of the Peace and Master of the Masonic Lodge in Toccopola. He married Margaret Ann Penelope Pickens in 1859 in nearby Lafayette County.

Other cousins of the Bost, Faggart/Faggert, Cline, & Blackwelder could be found also in the North Mississippi area. I was told by the older Bost cousins of my grandmother that Martin Wilson Bost still spoke with a distinct German accent.

Bost family lines are spread far and wide from the homestead in Adams Creek, North Carolina - There are 14,000 plus names added to this tree so far.
