Philippians 1:3 -- I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

“Walking. I am listening to a deeper way. Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me. Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands.”

Hooversville, Pennsylvania, was my home as a child and it will always be "Home" to me. When I started this web site I knew that my great-grandparents' surnames were Rodger, Clark, Sherbine, Coleman, Brubaker, Riddell, Lytle, Repp, and Witt.

Gathering information about my ancestors has lead me on a wonderful journey back in time that traveled through Revolutionary America, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and Switzerland.

Many ancestor surnames were new to me, and those newly discovered relatives have been added along the way. I've discovered that many of my ancestors were brave, determined, daring, patriotic, hard working, loyal, faithful, and God loving people.

Along the way I discovered that I'm related to Milton Hershey of Hershey Chocolate fame and also Abraham Clark, who was one of the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence!

It is amazing to me how all these ancestors came together, under God's great care and guidance, to create my parents, and, eventually, me! How thankful I am that all of these people lived the lives that they did! How thankful I am to have had the joy and privilege to have been born and raised in a place called Hooversville, PA, where so many of my friends and neighbors are also a part of my extended family!

As Dorothy Gale once said, "There's no place like home!"

(Because I didn't know where else to random Hooversville photos on this web site, you can find old town photos Hooversville under the name of John Rodger; and you can find old photos from Stoyestown under the name of George Riddell.)
