I started researching my family ancestors a few years ago, I am now completely addicted. I started with my GGrandmother Isabel Eke, who I knew had lived in Lancashire and straight away I found that she was born in Guestwick, Norfolk and that I shouldn't have been called Eke at all !!
She had 3 daughters by a Thomas McDowell ( I've never found a marriage certificate) and then had twin boys and reverted to her maiden name of Eke! My mothers maiden name is Hargreaves, well, that says it all, there are such alot of Hargreaves in Lancashire, how could I possibly resist a challenge like that? The word "Serendipity"cropped up when I first started and I thought what a great word, it's so appropriate to family research, you meet people by pure chance and then find that they are related, information comes to you by pure chance again and you find that it's relevent to your research, magic!!
So, if you are just starting out and maybe thinking, well why bother, go for it, it's really rewarding and everyone is so friendly.
There's still alot of names to add, going on to Knowles, Entwistle,Peploe and Dewhurst. I can't really guarantee that all the information is correct so please let me know if you spot the deliberate mistakes!!
Please get in touch if you are connected to me or any of my ancestors. Lorraine
