About Lotshaw/Latshaw Family
As you travel through the Lotshaw Family Tree, especially in the 1500-1600, you will come across

errors. Some of these errors are created by my assumptions as to historical, religious, and

family prejudices. Other errors may have occurred during my research by accepting information from people that appears valid but has not been verified by at least two sources. As time goes on, hopefully, each name will be verified to it's place in our genealogy history. However as of May 13 2013 I am doubtful, I will secede. So the best we can say today is feel free to peruse the data as pure fiction. At best it might keep you from going down the many dead ends I went down getting to this point.

A point about naming conventions. The internet has been a benefit and with the host of amateur

genealogist a real problem. Many people change multiple spelling of their research names to a spelling they are more familiar with and footnoting the change once. Creating a lot of confusion. I have decided on a certain naming convention. I feel certain that this will at least help me. I believe that all the divertive of the Lotshaw is most likely related.

NAME CONVENTION:

Switzerland-Name "Loetscher" I have seen it spelled Lottschar, Lotscha, Loetschar, Latchatt, and

Le'tscher a French Spelling.

Germany-Translated directly into Germany the spelling becomes "Lötscher". Many Switz Loetscher

emigrated to Germany during the Post Reformation Period

Norway-One of the members of the family Abraham Loetscher emigrated to Norway to escape religious

persecution. There the direct translation becomes "Luetscher"

In Pennsylvania the name became "Latshaw" and finally around 1845 George Washington Latshaw moved

to Indiana and the name changed to "Lotshaw".

Today you can find all of these names in the census along with Latta, and Latchaw. I believe that

all of these names are related and if I don't run out of time 1st will continue to prove my theory.

Please contact me through my e-mail I would love to here from you.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
