|About Williams-MaesMawr&Maldwyn Families
This is a Tale Of Two Families, both with the surname Williams. On January 25,1893
Humphrey Williams of the Williams-Maesmawr family married Sara Williams of the Williams-Maldwyn
family. This website contains the descendants of both families.
Maesmawr: William J. Williams and Jane Jones married in 1858. After living on two
small farms they purchased the Maes Mawr (meaning "big field" or "big meadow") farm four miles
west of Waukesha in 1864. Each of them had come to America from Wales, Great Britain - William
from Carnarvon Shire in North Wales and Jane from South Wales, not far from Aberystwyth.

Maldwyn: David Williams and Mary Price married in 1867; they had each come to America
from Montgomeryshire, David's family from Llanbrynmair and Mary's from near Llangammarch Wells.
Montgomeryshire is also known as Maldwyn in Wales. (Descendants of David and Mary are

The development of this site: In the 1970's, David Humphrey Williams and Jane
Williams Jones began to collect the family histories in two volumes, which were updated
periodically. In 2010, Evelyn Rolands Ferrara and John Hayden Williams digitized the two
volumes and built this website.
We hope that descendants will continue to update this site with biographies, stories,
pictures, and anecdotes about these Williams families.
