I am Gary Mialocq, the creator of this website, and it is dedicated to the MIALOCQ and BARSOCCHINI families who comprise my French and Italian ancestry and heritage. If you notice any mistakes or can add any information, PLEASE contact me and I will do my best to make adjustments.
My French grandfather died in San Francisco when my dad was only 3, so until 2009, I had no idea of the existence of a large family in the southwest of France, in the Pyrenees-Atlantiques section not far from the Spanish border. To Californians, the area is similar to an enormous Napa Valley.
Thanks to JEAN-CLAUDE MIALOCQ (my 2nd cousin) of Jurancon, I have traveled to my homeland and met and now love my many cousins in France. We hope to spend much more time in France, and may eventually return to my family's home.
I recently discovered that my grandmother, FIDALMA BARSOCCHINI, had several brothers we didn't know existed who are my ancestors, and that there are several cousins in the Barsocchini family who lived all around me for years in San Francisco, the Bay Area, Marin, and the Peninsula. I had no idea we were related, especially so closely.
As I've aged I've learned to appreciate the importance of the study of genealogy is an how much we have in common to our ancestors. DNA is life. Hopefully, those of us who still remain can establish a solid connection and leave a legacy and family tree for the succeeding generations of which all can be proud.
ENJOY YOUR VISIT and WELCOME.
Love and hugs,
Gary D. Mialocq
