About Miller Higgins
For those of you in the Miller line of this tree, I've recently been able to trace some ancestry in England, so the tree goes back a little further to Isaac Kitchin (b.1697) and Thamar Gaitskell (b.1710) in the Lake District of Northern England.

My thanks to Lani Baker Mitchell (Our Gaspe Roots) for her very extensive list of Gaspe Ancestors that is very well researched and is far more detailed that my own information. Ms. Mitchell has generously allowed public viewing of non-living relatives, and you may very well find additional information on your ancestors there.

We are a nation of immigrants, so there are multiple European lines in this tree. The Gaspesians (Millers) are mostly British, originating from the time of Montcalm and Wolfe. Wendy's line is a bit more recent, and includes German and Ukrainian ancestors, as well as French-Canadians, who went were there was work.
There's also a bit of mystery about her grandfather, orphaned and adopted (we think). My sister-in-law Christine has French-Canadian roots going back to the time when the border with the United States was fluid, but also has European grandparents. So the stories have many variations. We would love to hear your versions.

Recent research came from Family Search, which is a free resource of shared information gathered by others and posted by them. It is similar in concept to the RootsWeb One-World Tree, but I find it much more usable, since you can find and flag duplicate information to reduce your search efforts.

The grave marker sites have indexed information that allow you to find or verify information that you may be missing.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
