About Moreys of Notre Dame Bay and White Bay
Please sign in to see more. The question that gets asked in most everyones lifetime at some point is: "where did my family come from and what kind of people were they?". This is my way of answering some of this question and I want to share the answers that I have found(with the help of lots of other people)with any of my extended Family who might be interested. The Morey family has been living in Notre Dame Bay since the mid 1840's when George Morey is recorded as living in Wards Harbour on Long Island,Newfoundland. The activities and events recorded for George Morey of Ward's Harbour indicate that the family were Anglican adherents. This would also indicate that there may be a link to the Morry Family of the Ferryland area. There is record of a George Morry of Ferryland who died Aug 18, 1846(60 years of age) and is buried in the Anglican Cemetary there. This George is likely to be a son of Matthew Morry and Mary Graham or at the very least a close relative. This George Morry is a candidate to have been the father of George Morey of Ward's Harbour, hopefully time will shed more light on this possibility.
The Parsons family moved to Little Bay from the Harbour Grace area sometime around 1879-80.
