About Gallagher/McBride
This site is now set up as Gallagher/McBride. I am Frank Gallagher born 1953 in Glasgow. My father was also a Frank and he was born in west Tyrone in a place called Drumahon in 1920. My mother was Mary Rose McBride and she was born in Moydamlaght near Draperstown county Derry.
My grandfather on my father's side was Charles and he was a National school headmaster in Scraghey which is close to Castlederg, and his father Francis was the first teacher at the school.
My mother's family were farmers at Moydamlaght since the mid 19th century when my great great grandfather Patrick McBride reportedly came back to Ireland from Scotland, and subsequently passed his acquired land on to my great grandfather 'Big Andy McBride'. It is believed that Patrick McBride was brought back to the area initially to act as groom for Lord O'Neil whose land was just over the river Moyola from Moydamlaght. The farm is still there and currently in the hands of my uncle Andy McBride.
I am, like old Patrick Mcbride in the mid 1800's, living back in Glasgow now after 35 years of commuting into London daily from Luton. My son Martin is married and lives near London, my son Michael is married and lives in Buckinghamshire, and my son Stephen lives in Hitchin and is a marine superintendent.
My email if it's not too clear on the pages on this site, is frankg31@yahoo.com If you have any questions or info don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Best wishes to all
